One thing that I have never quite figured out about brunettes is their propensity for dyeing their hair a slightly different shade of brown, and then preening and hoping people will notice and compliment it. I love being a brunette, but going from Brown A to Brown B is not exactly traffic-stopping change.
And while I do not really understand this phenomenon, I am but a woman with brown slightly darker brown hair, and the next time you see me you better tell me how goddamn pretty I am.

Non-knitters are very much welcome to attend!
Also, if you have not seen this video, you should.

So this morning I went running with Seth and E as long run #1 under Galloway for the Fargo marathon.
We went about 6 miles, with about half an hour of hill training smack dab in the middle, so probably about seven miles total. They were nice enough to let me set the pace. It was the farthest I have yet run; we took about an hour and a half to do the run, including the hills in the middle (which don't really count for pacing.)
My in-law Matthew says that the reason why he loves running is because it feels so good when he stops. Today, I could attest to that. I was bitterly cold by the end, my ankle hurt, and afterwards, I took a nice hot shower. It felt so good to let the water pound on my muscles. I was tottering like an old lady, but it felt really, really good, and I felt accomplished.
I was all set to feel really good about it for the rest of the morning, but you know what really puts a damper on the whole accomplishment afterglow?
Yeah, getting a migraine in the shower before you even get warm. |

History Elsewhere. I regret that I was both sick and working for the man today. I missed stuff. I hate that. Have a poem, stolen shamelessly from linguistic_lust. Dearest creature in creation, Study English pronunciation. I will teach you in my verse Sounds like corpse, corps, horse, and worse. I will keep you, Suzy, busy, Make your head with heat grow dizzy. Tear in eye, your dress will tear. So shall I! Oh hear my prayer. ( Read more... ) Current Mood: blank |

I was just at Half Price Books in Apple Valley, where I stumbled across a boxed set of Sports Night on dvd. The complete series. Pristine. For $30.
This is one of the smartest, funniest shows I've ever seen. I've been lusting over it since spring, hoping I'd one day be lucky to stumble across it used, because I'm generally too cheap to pay full price.
And it wasn't a popular show...a find like this is nearly unheard of. And I left it on the shelf because I am trying to be more frugal, and after all, can't have everything I want.
So I am doing the next best thing and telling my eljay friends about it, in the hopes that one of you will snatch up this little gem of a show and enjoy it for yourself. Go buy it before some suburban schmuck lands it. |

Five things you probably wouldn't guess about me I am creating a meme!@# You can tag as many people as you want with this.. or even bring it over to facebook!
Leave a comment please!
1) I enjoy creating raku pottery pieces because they are so random.. and I get to play with fire!
2) I never ever had a date to any of my school dances
3) I feel guilty if I don't call/email/see someone in a timely manner.. which causes me to not contact them at all.. This keeps me awake at night.
4) I have very vivid dreams, in color. (Most people dream in black and white). They very often mix live people I know, with dead people I know. Sometimes it takes me a few hours to realize it wasn't real, because it was so vivid.. I even have tactile senses in my dreams. I have more than once referred to conversation in my dreams to people in real life.. then I have to pause and excuse myself because I catch myself 1/2 way through.. realizing it never actually happened.
5) Since I was about 4 I have been obsessed with Nazi Germany and the last Czar and Czarina of Russia and the tragic fate of their whole family. Reading books, watching shows.. at the young age of 4.. this was before they knew that Anna Anderson was not really the Grand Duchess, because DNA wasn't an issue.. and the hidden graves were discovered. It was weird subjects for a 4 year old, but there were an odd amount of books at the library for children in the 80's to read on both subjects.. with pictures.
I tag Ms. Kennedy, Ms Gingerblue, Ms Borek, Mr Pico, and Mr Davis! |

Tell me about a made-up game you used to play as a child.
In first grade, my friends and I loved to play "V" in the backyard. Everyone bickered about who got to be the aliens. |

As of this week, I am officially on a marathon training schedule. eastull and I will be running Fargo on May 9, 2009. Our first long run (with guest star setharoo) will be this coming Sunday. I wanted to do Twin Cities, but that one's more logistically difficult for me, especially for a first marathon, due to fest happening the preceeding 7 weekends. Training will be like having a part-time job for six months. The pack-a-day smoker who had back surgery 18 months ago never saw this coming. Oh, and next month marks my one-year quit date. :) I am training according to the Galloway method, and am equal amounts terrified and excited. |

Offensive Knitting Tonight 7;30 Cahoots in st paul Next week will be a very special offensive knitting, as we take our needles on a field trip to Psycho Suzi's to celebrate the long-awaited completion of sithlet's scarf of doom, which has 100,000 stitches and has taken her almost two years to complete. It is the end of a knitting era. We're gonna need to come up with something new for which to make fun of her. |

Another run this morning with Team Strichardson. I had a shitty time, and I am sporting some serious blood blisters on my left instep. Jason is suggesting new socks and a trip to the running store for suggestions.
E and I decided to go hot tubbing afterwards so we donned our swimsuits. I put on my navy one piece, the one which I haven't worn since July, when I started c25k.
It is comically large. Like, sagging off my body large. I am completely shocked, because I am still pretty flabby and didn't think my body was changing that much, but apparently it is.
Watching my body morph into something that can adjust to my lifestyle rather than vice versa makes up for a lot of shitty times and blood blisters.
Also, I am posting this from the tub. Go omegacon! |
